Vernell Beam Goforth Jones

Vernell Beam Goforth Jones, age 93, took the hand of Jesus to her heavenly home on Monday, June 13, 2022

. Born in Cleveland County on March 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Elzie Lee and Della Cora Borders Beam. In addition to her parents, Vernell is preceded in death by her late husbands, Coleman Goforth and Marshall Jones, a son John W. Goforth, her brothers and sisters, Caroline Martin, Carlton Beam, Mike Beam, Charles Beam, Louise McKee, and infant sister Myra Sue Beam.

Vernell Beam Goforth Jones is survived by a brother David Beam.

Vernell was a longtime member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church where she took on numerous administrative roles and enjoyed church mission trips. She worked for Hudson Hoisery for several years, was a beautician, farmer's wife, and teacher's assistant and worked the exhibit booths at the Bethware Fair in Kings Mountain. Vernell's hobbies of which she enjoyed most include; quilting, coloring, reading, playing card games and she loved gardening.

Vernell is survived by the Goforth family, daughter Bess Hambidge, two grandchildren, Kosta Hambidge and wife Kierstin, Lili Flynn and Husband Coty, as well as, two great grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition, Vernell is survived by the Jones family, daughter Ruby McKinney and husband Mitch, grandchildren, Dale McKinney and wife Wendy, Kathy Smith and husband Mark, Danah Brooks and Husband Tommy, Michael Jones and wife Mary, and Kristie Schmaltz and husband Nick, as well as, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday, June 17, 2022 in the sanctuary of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. Graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday June 18, 2022 at Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastors Tim Beam and Tim Hendricks officiating.
