Mrs. Vernie Mae Mauney Wall, age 90 of Shelby, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at White Oak Manor in Shelby.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Link of Shelby, NC, James Wall of Shelby, NC, and Betty Wall Methvin of Shelby, NC, four grandchildren, Andrew Methvin, Michael Methvin, Deborah Fox, and Ellen Thrift, three great grandchildren, Ryan Fox, Brittany Melton, and Preston Thrift, 4 great great grandchildren, Landon Fox, Blair Fox, Claudia Melton, and Brayden Melton, two brothers Henry Mauney and Billy Ray Mauney, and two sisters, Betty Nelson and Rachael Mauney.

Born October 6, 1928 in Cleveland County, Vernie was the daughter of the late Henry and Bessie Cogdell Mauney and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eldridge Herbert Wall Jr., a daughter Elizabeth Wall and four brothers, Forrest Mauney, Norman Mauney, James Mauney, and C.W. Mauney.

Vernie was a retired nurse from the State of Maryland. She loved to crotchet, as well as listen to gospel and old time country music. She enjoyed cooking for her family.

A visitation will be held from 2 - 4 pm Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2pm, October 18, 2018 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery.
