Rev. Vernon Moore, 82, of 334 Mt. Paran Rd., Blacksburg, SC went home to be with the Lord, August 27, 2025, at home, surrounded by family.
He was the husband to Barbara T. Moore and son of the late Mae and Martin Moore.
Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife are children Robin DeBruler (Doug), Melinda Moore (Jamie) and Rev. Mark Moore (Cindy). Also surviving are grandchildren Jonathan DeBruler (Piper), Logan & Sophia Malilong, Christian King (Lacie), Heaven, Trevor, and Josiah Moore and Great Grandchildren Levi, Evan, Isabella, Juliyan, and Kasen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donny Moore.
After serving honorably in the US Air Force he began his ministry at Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he pastored for 8 years, He moved to Shelby, NC in 1978 to further his ministry by becoming pastor at Christ the King Church for 45 years. In addition to preaching and preparing his sermons, he had a passionate love for family and the mountains.
A Receiving of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 1-3 pm at Christ the King Church, 1311 S. Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28152 with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service to follow. Officiating are Elder Jim Bailey and Mr. Dwayne Smith. Burial will be held at Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Blacksburg, SC with military honors.
Pallbearers serving are Christian King, Trevor Moore, Billy Hawkins, Archie Crocker, Jerry Gains, and Mark Sizemore. Honorary Pallbearers are Gerry Mascato and Jerry Gardner.
