Veterans Day Parade is Nov 11 in Uptown Shelby

The Cleveland County Veterans Council announces a Veterans Day Parade to be held in Uptown Shelby on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 at 9:45am to honor veterans from all branches of military service. The Council, with the help of Debra Conn of the Cleveland County Veterans Service Office is sponsoring this event.
Donald Schenck, Parade Committee Chairman said, "I am excited about being a part of organizing this parade to honor our veterans from all wars and conflicts." Schenck along with three of his brothers served during the Vietnam era and plan to participate in the parade. Veterans who participated in other wars/conflicts are asked to participate as well.
All veteran service organizations are invited to join the parade on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 in Uptown Shelby. The parade will precede the annual Veterans Day service held on the grounds of the Earl Scruggs Center in Uptown Shelby the same day at 11:11am. The parade will be begin at 9:45am at the intersection of W. Graham St. and Market St., turn left onto Lafayette St. and proceed north on Lafayette St., past the Earl Scruggs Center, turn left onto W. Marion St., and disperse at the parking lot of the Shelby City Pavilion/Foothills Farmers' Market on W. Marion St.
Participation in the parade is free to Veterans groups in Cleveland County, other patriotic groups and car clubs. All participants must per-register by calling Donald Schenck 704-284-4508.
In the event of rain, the parade will be canceled, however, the Veterans Day Program will be moved to the Shelby City Park.
