Virginia Helen Carpenter Hutchens, 82 of Polkville Road, Casar passed away,
Wednesday July 5, 2017 at White Oak Manor in Shelby.

Born December 10, 1934 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late
J.D. Carpenter and Jessie Pearl Whisnant Carpenter. She was a member of Mt.
Zion Baptist Church, Casar. Helen enjoyed spending time reading, sewing,
flower gardening and attending bible studies. She also loved the mountains
and her furry friend, Sophie.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert
Benton Hutchens, Sr.

Survivors include a son, Benton Hutchens, Jr. and wife, Tammy of
Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Donald Carpenter and wife, Linda of
Polkville and Larry Carpenter and wife, Nancy of Casar; a sister, Sheila
Carpenter Morrow of Casar; three grandchildren, Sierra Lynn, Devin Rose and
Cole Robert Hutchens; and special cousin Robert Price.

A funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with
Rev. Jamie Bridges officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:30 PM
until 2:00 PM.

Visitation will be immediately following the service.

Burial will follow in Lee's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
