Vivian Ruth Heavner Patterson, age 85 of Suncrest Rd passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at her residence. She was born January 1, 1932 in Gaston County to the late Vonnie Lee and Nancy Anna Moore Heavner. She was a faithful member of Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church. Vivian retired after 34 years from the Carlton Mill and she had also worked for Nuway and Rhyne Houser Mills. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery and was a flea market expert. Vivian was a world traveler and a true social butterfly. She had a great passion for genealogy and was dedicated to assisting with reunions, whether it be family, church, or the Carlton Mill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Spot" Neill Patterson; sisters, Margie Heavner and Gladys Mauney; and brothers, James "Hap," JB Hugh, Lester and Bob Heavner.
Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews, including her caregiver and niece, Nancy Rudisill; sisters-in-law, Pauline Neal Heavner, Faye Cunningham Heavner, and L:inda Patterson Rudisill; special friends, Reba Beam, Becky Martin, Kat Sigmon, and Dot Leonhardt; and special "great-grands," Chase and Bessie Leonhardt and Seth, Ryan, and Jesse Neal.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Hannah Rudisill Vassey, Pauline Neal Heavner, Robin Heavner, and Stacey Duren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Missionary Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.
