Walter "Buzz" David McCombs, Jr., 75, of Shelby passed away on October 25, 2026 at his home.

Buzz was born on February 9, 1951 Pennsylvania to the late Walter David McCombs, Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Gill Williams. He held many different jobs with the City of Orlando for 20 years, state parks and various lumber yards. Buzz was a member of Morning Side Baptist Church in Brevard. He served in the US Navy during Vietnam and then later he served with the Alabama National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott McCombs; a sister, Glenda Gingras and a great-grandchild.

Walter is survived by wife of 56 years, Cheryl Davis McCombs; two sons, Walter David McCombs III and Billy Lee McCombs both of Cocoa Beach, Florida; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Moss of Shelby; stepdaughter, Selena Rose of Dallas, Texas; sister, Tammy Stephens of Ringgold, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Taz McCombs, Scotty Moss, Rebekah Moss, Thadeus Mendez, Tabetha Jenkins, Matthew McCombs, Mary McCombs, Nicholas Lee McCombs and Thomas Farlow and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026 at 2:00pm at Zion Baptist Church.

Burial will be held at 2:30pm on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at the Sailsbury National Cemetery.
