Walter Harold Schmoutz
Shelby – Walter Harold Schmoutz, 81, of 202 Peach Street, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Hospice of Wendover in Shelby.  Born March 7, 1931 in Pittsburgh PA, he was the son of the late William H. & Laura Reihl Schmoutz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Dorothy Fry, Audrey Sullivan, Elaine Spin, and 3 brothers, Earl Schmoutz, Melvin Schmoutz, and Donald Schmoutz.

He is survived by his high school sweet-heart and loving wife of 60 years, Joan Cue Schmoutz, and 5 children – Four daughters - Suzan Travis of Shelby, Lynda Roberts (Lynn) of Cope SC, Sandy Poston (Roosevelt) of Shelby, Leslie Schmoutz of Shelby, and one son Stephen Schmoutz (Patricia) of Shelby; 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren; one brother William Schmoutz (Joann)  of Washington PA, and a Sister-in-law Grace Schmoutz of Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who loved and cherished him. Also special friend Johnny Armstrong and family.

Walter was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and spent his life ministering to others the Good news of Gods Kingdom.  Even during the 7 years of his bed rest he would witness to his nurses and doctors and anyone that came within ear shot of him.  He spent many years working for Daniels Construction as an electrician until reaching his retirement age, and then another 10 years as the maintenance man at the Cleveland Country Club. He spent countless time and energy repairing and fixing things around his friend’s houses.  Walter never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all those who know and love him.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bayada Nurses, especially Jennifer Webb, and Hospice, especially all the girls and Anita Jones, for end-of-life comfort the last 24 months.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 15, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Shelby with Robert Blakely Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, December 11 2012, from 6:00 until 7:30 pm and other times at the home.
