Walter Monroe Strong, Jr.

Walter Monroe Strong, Jr. (Walt Jr.), 69, of Shelby, NC passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain, NC.

He was born on September 4, 1951 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Walter Monroe Strong, Sr. and the late Corrine Carson Strong.

Walt Jr was married to the late Hiawatha Wilson Strong for nearly 49 years and to their union was born three children, two boys and a daughter. Their oldest son Parrish and their twins Chad and Chasity.

During his younger years he worked at Drexel Heritage for many years. He then went to work for Travis Knit for many of his work years until their closing. After that he worked with a contractor helping to install telephone poles for a few years until his layoff. Prior to him finally retiring he worked for a contractor of Freight Liner for a short period.

Walt Jr was a laid back man who enjoyed watching TV on the couch most days along with a drink while hanging out with his dog Missy. He loved to have a good time and enjoyed hanging out with friends and family making everyone laugh. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and fishing.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Macquelina "Mackie" Strong Jennings and Barbara Ann Strong Accor.

Left to cherish his memory, her two sons, Parrish Strong (Tamika) of Chesapeake, VA and Chad Strong of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Chasity Roberts (Phillip) of Kings Mountain, NC; five brothers James Gill (Vickie) of CA, Ricky Strong (Kay) of AZ, Darryl Woods (Annette), Devon Woods, and Deion Woods all of Shelby, NC; four sisters, Eurasia Strong Bell (Cleophus) of NJ, Geraldine Strong Barnett of Shelby, NC, Jacqueline Strong Roberts ( James) of Grover, NC and Mary Roseboro Ross of Charlotte, NC; one aunt Betty Barnett of Shelby, NC; two brothers-in-law Douglas Accor and Johnny Jennings both of Shelby, NC; three sisters-n-law Maxine Mizell of Peekskill, NY, Janice Hatcher ( Jack) of Edison, NJ, Joyce Wilson of East Orange, NJ; 7 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The service for Mr. Strong will be private. He can be viewed from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
