Walter "Walt" Edward Hartman, 71, died Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Atrium Health Cleveland.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Bynum and Lela Costner Hartman. Walt served in the US Army, was a member of Polkville Baptist Church and loved collecting marbles, jars and coins. He was a humble and sweet man who loved his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Adams. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Kay Hartman, of the home; daughter, Shannon Hartman of Ellenboro; step-son, Wayne Connor and wife Sherri of Polkville; sister, Fonda Smith and husband Richard of Lincolnton; brother, James Hartman and wife Evelyn of Vale; grandchildren; K.J. Jugar and wife Soli, Katlyn Beam and husband Josh and Isaac Connor; and special sister-in-law, Sandy Lowery. Funeral services will be held 3:00PM, Monday, November 29, 2021 at Polkville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wil Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
