Wanda Jean Wray, 63, of Shelby, NC, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Wendover Hospice, Shelby, NC.

Born in Cleveland County on August 25, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Vinnie Wray Johnson and Jimmy Lewis Brooks.
Wanda graduated in 1980 from Shelby High School and was a member of Eskridge Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; joking and making people laugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, James Johnson; maternal grandparents, Cofford and Ida Wray; and sister, Bonnie Annette Wray.
She is survived by her sisters, Deborah Wray of Shelby, NC, and Sherry Wray of Greensboro, NC; brother, James Brooks (Donna) of Shelby, NC; nieces, Demetria Weaver, Toya Hopper, and Ta'Wyka Hopper, all of Greensboro, NC; nephew, Sergio Wray of Asheville, NC; aunts, Helen Banner and Merlean Carson (Jimmy); uncle, Sherwood Wray, all of Shelby, NC; her longtime friends, Wanda Gail McDowell, Angela Jones, and others who were near and dear to her; including a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services was held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Eskridge Grove Baptist Church, 330 Washburn Switch Road, Shelby, NC,
