Wayne Greene, age 78, of Ellenboro, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at his residence.

Wayne was born Friday, February 11, 1944 in Cleveland County to the late Thomas Marshall Greene and Ruby Garver Greene. He co-owned Golden Eagle Textiles and was the owner and operator of Big G Rug Company for many years. He enjoyed playing baseball and softball, fishing and was an animal lover. Wayne loved his family dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Harris; brother, Billy Ray Greene and a sister, Ansley Greene Terry.

Left to cherish fond memories are his daughter, Karen Hardin-Parker of Ellenboro; son, Jonny Greene of Ellenboro; the mother of his children, Brenda Greene; six grandchildren, Summer Harris, Kevin Hardin (Jennifer), Lindsey Greene Foster (Roland), Brandon Hardin (Sarah), Bonnie Parker, Andrew Autry; great-grandchildren, Zaeley Hines, T.J. Hines, Roi Hardin, Sylvia Hardin, Joanna Hardin, I.J. Bradshaw, Jazzy Bradshaw and Eli Bradshaw. He is also survived by his siblings, Earl Greene (Dorothy), Barbara Cooke (Charlie), Miles Greene (Betty), Milan Gatlin (Chester), Wanda Smith (Terry), Rocky Greene (Sally), Ricky Greene (Benita), Donald Greene (Luann) and his beloved fur baby, Cocoa.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Christian Fellowship Missionary Methodist Cemetery with Reverend Randy Church officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
