We Will Always Remember
Officers representing the Shelby Police, Kings Mountain Police, Cleveland County Sheriff's Department and North Carolina State Trooper's all were present to pay homage to those who gave their lives for our county.
As Chaplain Glenn Davenport proclaimed the mission of law enforcement officers oath "To Serve and Protect", he reminded us all that we should never forget. On Friday, May 21, the Cleveland County Law Enforcement Day took place in the park next to the Shelby Police Station. It was a day to remember those who had died in service to Cleveland County. The names of those who made the supreme sacrifice were recited:  Sheldon Jones, 1901, Shelby Police Chief; Edgar Hamrick, 1904, Shelby Police Chief; Sanford Pruitt, 1931, Cleveland County Sheriff Department; Ewart W, Sanders,1933, Cleveland County Sheriff Department; Donald Hendrson, 1968, Kings Mountain Police Department; and George Allen, 1974 Sheriff of Cleveland County. Then a moment of silence and prayer as taps was played. A flower was placed in the memorial wreath for each Cleveland County hero as a tribute and thanks.
