Wilbert Lee Biddix

Wilbert Lee Biddix, 77 of Kings Mountain, NC passed away on Tuesday June 6, 2017. Born on April 15, 1940, Wilbert was the oldest son of Leonard Wilbert Biddix and wife Pearly Pauline Green Biddix. Wilbert was married to his sweetheart, Barbara Upchurch Biddix, also of Kings Mountain, for 51 years. The couple was married on June 11, 1965 and shared a full and happy life together.

Wilbert served his country faithfully in the US Army where he was stationed at Fort Benning, GA, Germany and Okinawa. Later, he worked at Foote Mineral in Kings Mountain, where he retired. He enjoyed many things in life such as fishing, cutting grass, gardening, working in his yard and helping his son work on housing projects. Wilbert loved his family and was always the first to help someone in a time of need. One of his favorite things to do was sitting out on his back deck with friends and family and telling stories. Never far from his side was his dog Maggie, who enjoyed his stories as much as anyone.

Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Wilbert Biddix and wife Pearly Pauline Green Biddix as well as a sister, Shirley Lawson. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Upchurch Biddix, daughter Karen Biddix Thomson and husband Jay of Sherrills Ford, NC, son Marvin Lee Biddix of Kings Mountain, grandchildren, Katie and Jason Thomson, sister Brenda Parker and husband Steve, brothers Elden Biddix and wife Phyllis, Roger Biddix and wife Pat, Dannie Biddix and Betty, Donnie Biddix and wife Lori, and his mother-in-law Doris Upchurch.

Services will be held at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain, NC on Friday June 9, 2017. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:30 pm with the funeral immediately following in the chapel at 4:00 pm officiated by Dr. Steve Parker, Rev. Henry Jenkins and Rev. Larry Burns. Burial will be at Mountain Rest Cemetery with full military honors by the Foothills Detachment Marine Corp League. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Wilbert.
