William Alexander Whisnant, age 66, passed away June 12, 2021 at Hospice Wendover House in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County on March 16, 1955, he was the son of Barbara Thompson Whisnant and the late Larry A. Whisnant. William was a graduate of Shelby High School class of 1973. In his earlier years he was an avid outdoorsman, spending time fishing and hunting. Bill learned to work well with his hands as an electrician for PPG and devoted many years to the industry. Bill will be known for having a quick-witted, yet reserved personality but most of all, he loved his family dearly.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one brother Gary Whisnant.

Bill is survived by his sister Linda Clary and husband Dennis of Boiling Springs, NC, one daughter Betsy Beason and husband Gary of Shelby, NC, two grandchildren, Kaylee and Karlee Beason and two step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathaniel Beason. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
