William Dennis Hastings, 71, of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at home.

Born in Cleveland County, on May 28, 1951, he was the son of Lavada Warlick Hastings of Lawndale and the late William "Bill" Adam Hastings. Dennis was retired from Carter Chevrolet as the service manager and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved to tinker and work on various things from small engines to race cars. Dennis enjoyed going fast whether that was racing, mudsling or boating.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Shelia Kay Collins Hastings; two sons Chad Hastings and wife Joy and Jason Hastings all of Shelby; two sisters, Patricia Dedmon and husband Alton of Forest City and Donna Silver and husband, Jerry of Polkville; and five grandchildren, Clay Hastings and wife Hannah of Kings Mountain, Dylan Hastings and Kelly Parkins, Madison Hastings, Titus Hastings, and Dakota Hastings all of Shelby.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 pm in the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel Rev. George Whitmire officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Cleveland Memorial Park.
