William Dennis Thornton, 60, of 4008 Stick Elliott Road, Lawndale, passed
away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Cleveland County, on March 31, 1956, to the late James Weldon
Thornton and Melba Sue Philbeck Thornton. He previously worked for Doran
Mills and was presently working for White Knight Contracting. He attended
Friendly Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles
Thornton.

He is survived by his two sons, David Thornton and wife April of Shelby and
William Dale Thornton of Crouse; three daughters, Vicky Mullins and husband
Doug of Cherryville, Kim Ivey and husband Darren of Lawndale, and Stacey
Thornton and fiancé Willie Dotson of Casar; sister, Irene Shalp of Shelby
and fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister - in - law, Lynn
Thornton of Belwood.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.

The funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 PM in the Stamey-Tysinger
Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow the service in the Mountain Rest Cemetery, King Mountain.
