Mr. William Freeman Tate, Jr., 83, of Shelby, NC, passed away on August 20, 2025. He was born on October 1, 1941, in Cherokee County, SC, to the late Freeman Tate and Idella Rogers Tate.

In addition to his parents, William Freeman Tate, Sr. and Idella Rogers Tate, he is preceded in death by grandson, Williams Giles, Jr.; brothers, Lloyd Tate, Sr., Cole Tate, Clarence Tate, Melvin Tate, and Robert Tate; and sisters, Grace Webber and Lucinda Tate.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Ada Hopper and his son Nathan Howie. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Rodney Giles, Sabrina Giles, William Giles Jr., and Jacobey Giles; his great-grandchildren; Tamia Giles, Rodney Giles Jr., Miracle Giles, and Jacobey Giles Jr; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will also carry his memory forward.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, NC.
