Well-known musician and singer, William "Gabby" Ellis Newton, Jr., age 78, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Belaire Health Care Center, Gastonia, NC.

He is predeceased by his parents, Ellis L. Newton, Sr. and Ellen Lovette Newton; three sisters, Lillian Mode (Bynum), Lois Street (Ben) and Barbara Annette Newton.

Ellis leaves behind to cherish his memories Cathy Locke of the home; Brayden and Joshua Petty also of the home; one brother, Oakly Gene Newton (Donna) of Willow Springs, NC; two sisters, Judy Head (Bill) of Shelby NC, and Renee Smith (John) of Mooresboro NC.

Ellis was a well-known musician and singer who traveled the world. His stage name, Gray Gavin and nickname, Gabby. He loved the outdoors, spending time with family and to spend time in Oak Island, NC. He was an avid Fisherman and Artist.
