William Jasper Newton, Jr., 95, of Casar, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at his home.

Born in Cleveland County, on December 14th, 1927, he was the son of the late William Jasper Newton and Blanche Walker Newton. He was retired from maintenance at Broughton Hospital and was a member of Canaan Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Gueirl Mae Downs Newton; and a daughter, Gail Meade.

He is survived by a son, David Newton of Casar; two daughters and spouses, Dana and Phil Dellinger of Lawndale, Sheila and Roger Gantt of Casar, son-in-law, Bill Meade of Casar; eight grandchildren and spouses, Karen Foster of Shelby, Cindy Dellinger of Charlotte, Mark Meade of Casar, Amy McSwain of Shelby, Regina and Chris Wortman of Casar, Rodney and Emily Gantt of Casar, Durant Newton of Forest City and Stacy and Josh Overcash of Bostic; eleven great grandchildren, Bryson Newton, Cash Newton, Jace Overcash, Sage Overcash, Josie Overcash, Jaiden Foster, Parker McSwain, Gracie McSwain, Mackenzie Wortman, Andy Gantt and Joe Gantt.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cody Allen officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
