William Jerry Cloninger, 86 of Church View Drive, Lawndale, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Hospice at Wendover.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on May 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Hugh Franklin Cloninger and Annie Pearl Brackett Cloninger. He was retired from Eaton Corporation and was a member of Lawndale Missionary Methodist Church. Mr. Cloninger served in the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel O. Cloninger and a sister, Trudy C. Lail.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Vivian Spencer Cloninger; two sons, Anthony Cloninger (Ariadna) of Shelby and Eric Cloninger (Tanja) of Shelby; two daughters, Michal C. Tesseneer (Mike) of Polkville and Kelly C. Weaver (Keith) of Lawndale; four grandchildren, Ashley T. King (Doyle), Laura T. Kay (Chad), Mia Cloninger and Ian Cloninger and four great-grandchildren, Payton Tesseneer, Hunter Kay, Lane Kay and Jordan Caudill.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Hospice at Wendover for the care and support that has been shown to Paw Paw.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Lawndale Missionary Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Queen and Mr. Fred Towery officiating.
