William King "Bill" Elliott

William King "Bill" Elliott, age 95, of Boiling Springs, North Carolina, passed away on January 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

A proud graduate of Wake Forest University, Bill lived a life defined by service, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to his church and community. A businessman and high school educator, he believed deeply in the power of education, mentorship, and hard work, values that shaped both his professional life and his many years of community service.

While at Wake Forest, he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships and embraced the values of brotherhood and service that guided him throughout his life.

Bill faithfully served the town of Boiling Springs for many years, first as a member of the Boiling Springs Town Council and later as Mayor, working diligently to support the growth, values, and well-being of the community he loved.

His dedication to service extended beyond public office. He was the first President of the Rotary Club in Boiling Springs and remained a devoted Rotarian throughout his life. In recognition of his outstanding service and commitment to the ideals of Rotary, he recently received the Paul Harris Fellow award from The Rotary Foundation, one of the organization's highest honors.

His faith was the cornerstone of his life. At Boiling Springs Baptist Church, Bill served faithfully as Chairman of the Deacons and many other church committees, offering wisdom, leadership, and compassion to his church family. His servant's heart and integrity were evident in all he did.

Bill was also a passionate advocate for education and community involvement. He served on the Board of Trustees at Gardner-Webb University and was a devoted supporter of Gardner-Webb athletics, proudly serving as President of the Bulldog Club, where his enthusiasm and loyalty were well known.

Beyond his many leadership roles, Bill found great joy in gardening, especially in tending to his rose bushes and orchids. He also cherished time spent traveling to his beach condominium in Myrtle Beach with Ann and his family. He also served as President of his Homeowners' Association at A Place at the Beach IV for 30 years, demonstrating his steady leadership and commitment to caring for his neighbors and community at the beach. Later in his life, he enjoyed visiting his home in Lake Lure, where he enjoyed peaceful moments, beautiful views, and time with family.

Bill deeply valued friendship and connection. He especially enjoyed spending time with friends and playing Bridge, a game he loved and continued to play regularly until he was over 90 years old. Those gatherings brought him great joy, laughter, and meaningful companionship, reflecting his sharp mind and love for community well into his later years.

Above all, Bill was a devoted family man. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Hamrick Elliott, the love of his life, and his dear sister, Beth Minette, both of whom he loved deeply.

He is survived by his daughter, Patti Elliott Ellis, and her husband, Bill; his beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth Ellis Jolley, and her husband, Tyler; his loyal toy poodle, Mocha; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Pa loved his family deeply and was a constant source of love, wisdom, and support, proudly serving as "Pa" to many of the children in his family. His love, guidance, and example will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched.

A funeral service with military honors will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2026 at Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Pastors Keith Dixon, Buddy Corbin and Bonnie Doughtie officiating.
