William "Willie" Everette Mode

Mr. William "Willie" Everette Mode, 87 of Shelby, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System in Shelby.
He is survived by two daughters, Vickie Jones and husband Bobby of Shelby, NC, and Sherry Bailey and husband Randy of Shelby, NC, four grandchildren, Katina Jones, Travis Bailey, Jerod Jones and wife Whitney, and Stacey Bailey, seven great grandchildren, Meia and Brennon Jones, Isaiah and Maliyah Meeks, Marleigh Bailey, Cason Bailey, Caynon Burris, Brylee Jones and Mayden Hollifield, a sister, Pat Gold and husband Bill of Forest City, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born October 9, 1930 in Cleveland County, Mr. Mode was the son of the late Everette William and Florence Jones Mode and was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Juanita Lemons Mode, a brother, Ray Mode, and a sister, Lillian Wood.
William retired from the State Hwy after more than 31 years of service as a machinist. He was a member at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Usher, and Greeter. William loved everyone and enjoyed his Sunday hugs. Mr. Mode also served in the United States Army as a machinist earning the rank of Corporal. William was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #388. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and "Paw". William also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outside activities. William never met a stranger and was a very lovable person to those around him.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Cleveland Funeral Services and at other times at the home of Vickie Jones. Funeral services will be held 4:30 pm Monday, October 30, 2017 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
