Willie Bell Boykins Hunt

Willie Bell Boykins Hunt departed this life for her eternal rest on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at home.

She was born on August 17, 1934 in Cleveland County, North Carolina to the late Willie and Leonia Bowden Boykins.

Willie Bell was a faithful member of Golden Ridge Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina where she served as a Deaconess, Missionary, Pastor's Aide and a former member of the Woods Chorus. She loved the Lord and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved taking care of others and was known for her fried apple pies especially for family gatherings. She retired from the Cleveland County School System.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hunt; one son, Tommy Surratt; one brother, Albert Lee Boykins; two sisters, Hettie Jean Culbreath and Joyce Hall and two step-sons Steven Dixon and Patrick Hunt.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, one son, ZJ Surratt of the home; four sisters, Lena Mae Glenn, Ruth Brooks, Cynthia McShaw (Floyd) and Brenda Glenn (Joe) all of Shelby, NC; one brother in law, Pink Lee Hunt, Jr. (Pearline) and one sister in law, Maggree Hunt of Shelby, NC; two step sons, Derrick Hunt of Washington, DC and Matrick Hunt (Sharon) of Shelby, NC; seven grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and forty-five great-great grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Mary Jennings, a special niece, Penny Hicks-House of Charlotte, NC; special cousin, Ella Mae Watson of Shelby and a special friend, Ms. Pearl Strong. She raised two children that she called her own, Barry Taylor (Vicki) of Darlington, SC and Terry Luckadoo of Shelby, NC. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thank you to Hospice, Pallative Care and Kindred at Home for their unswerving service.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hunt will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Golden Ridge Baptist Church. The service will be livestreamed on FaceBook starting at 3:45 PM. The family will receive friends from 3:30 PM until 4:00 PM at the church. Burial will take place at Church Cemetery. Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloemortuary.com.
