Willie Jay Jones, 76, of 415 Circle West Drive Shelby, NC passed away on Sunday May 3, 2020 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation in Cherryville, NC.

He was born in Cleveland County, NC on March 31, 1944 to the late Minnie Hilyard and Guy Jones.

Willie was retired from the construction industry. He was an avid sports fan and was particularly fond of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved golf and was a caddy in his younger days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Kintaris Jones, Miranda Jones and Kenneth Jones and three brothers, West Carson, John Lewis Hardin and "Boot" Jones.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife of 54 years, Brenda Jones; his children, Katrinka Bush (Russell) of CA, Kecia Jones of KY, Kimberly Jones of SC, Keenan Jones (Frannie) of Shelby, NC, Keyton Jones (Katrina M. Jones), Kuriowa Jones (Roxie), Shelia Crenshaw-Wilson and Joann Degree (Roscoe) all of NC; one sister, Annie Ruth Jones of Shelby, NC; 33 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Due to recent coronavirus state guidelines limiting the size of gatherings, the service for Mr. Jones will be private. He may be viewed on Friday, May 8, 2020 at S.T.
