Willis Marion Camp, Jr.

Willis Marion Camp, Jr. otherwise known as "Billy" or as he would refer to himself as "The Dream" transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal on July 9, 2021 at Atrium CMC Main in Charlotte, NC at the age of 73 years old.

Willis was born on May 15, 1948 to his parents the late Willis Marion "Bill" Camp, Sr. and the late Claudia Mae Jewel Camp in Shelby, NC. He attended Green Bethel School and helped integrate Crest High School along with his cousin Rebecca and several others. After graduating he was drafted into the US Army serving in Vietnam under the 173rdAirborne Brigade as a paratrooper. After returning he matriculated at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University earning his degree in Social Work.

Willis was an excellent car salesman for many years at various dealerships in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia winning various awards for his salesmanship. Willis in later years worked for the Department of Homeland Security. Willis was an avid fan and supporter of his beloved alma Marta The Aggies of N.C. A&T University especially during homecoming and football games. He loved to listen to jazz and enjoyed socializing with "his" circle of family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Willis was preceded in death by his step mother Emma Brown- Camp, brother in law George "Bob" Brown, and a special friend Glenda Haynes, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Those left to cherish Willis' memory are His only child The Rev. Willis Marion Camp, III and his mother Charlene Cuthbertson-Camp. His only biologically sibling Marian Camp-Ross. His beloved nieces, Lisa Watkins and Sherrye Elliott. His great nephews Mario Elliott, James Harbison and Michael Cuthbertson. His beloved great niece Claudia Elliott. His Great-Great Nephews Dion Malachi, Mario Elliott Jr, Liam Harbison and Gabriel Cuthbertson. His cousins that are more like siblings Jerry Jamerson, Charles Jamerson, Larry Jamerson, Rebecca Cabiness, Clarence "Lil Sonny" Hogue, Terri Fleming, Susan Ingram, Rosemary Davis, Eric Davis, Sharon Withrow, Karen Gaye Withrow and all of their spouses and children. Former brothers in law James Elliott and Jerry Cuthbertson. A special cousin/daughter Michelle Jamerson. His boys, Dr. James Reid Lawrence, Albert Washington, Abe Lattimore and Bobby Jennings and their spouses and children. His former wives Daphanie Camp and Carol Forney and a whole host of other Family and Friends.

The service for Mr. Camp will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Eskridge Grove Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM at the church.
