Woodrow "Mike" Ross was born on April 21, 1954 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Eddie and Dorinda Jones Ross. He departed this life on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.

"Mike" as he was known by many joined Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age. He attended Kings Montain High School and completed his education at Cleveland Technical College in Shelby, NC. On October 6, 1972, "Mike" entered into the United States Navy. He was known by many as a fun loving person who loved to have a good time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, J.P. Ross, J.W. Ross, Randolph Ross, Rudolph Ross and Robert Lee Ross and sisters, Minnie Mae Montgomery, Margaret Ann Starnes and Sally Ann McClain.

He is survived by his daughter, Woodrea Ross of Shelby; four grandchildren, J'Haymyni Beam, Ja'Andre Beam, Moses Chapman and Logic Chapman; two sisters, Doris McClain and Annie Mae Roach both of Kingstown; one brother, Bobby Ross of Shelby; one brother-in-law, Rick Starnes of Shelby; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Ross of Kings Mountain, NC and Barbara Ross of Shelby. He also had a special bond with his niece, Dorene Ross and nephew, Danny Ross in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Shiloh AME Zion Church in Grover, NC. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday and at the home of his sister, Annie Roach, 1504 Williamson Road Kingstown, NC.
