Zenith Davidson Toney, age 82, of Sunshine, NC, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at her residence.
She was born October 20, 1934 in Toccoa, Georgia to the late John and Bessie McClure Davidson.
Zenith received a Bachelor of Science degree from North Georgia Military College in Dahlonega, Georgia and taught school in Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina and in Military Dependent Schools. She was a longtime member of Ross Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Dewey James Toney; son, Jeff Toney; granddaughter, Angela Simmons; brother, Porter Davidson and a sister, Dawn Wilson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John Toney and wife, Sherrie of Sunshine; two daughters, Jennifer Helton and husband, Kevin of Sunshine and Rhonda Simmons and husband, William of Clover, SC; daughter-in-law, Beth Price Francis of Cliffside. She is also survived by eight grandsons, Kevin "Chip" Helton, Jr., Brock Helton, Preston Helton and John Dewey "J.D." Toney all of Sunshine, Matthew Toney of Caroleen, Tony Toney (Kalina) of Charlotte, Brian Simmons (Missy) of Clover, SC and Curtis Simmons (Amanda) of Gastonia, NC; two granddaughters, Victoria Chapman of Sunshine and Savannah Earley of Waco, NC; nine great-grandchildren, Alexander, Lauren, Treston, Jackson, Tanner, Gracin and Joseph Simmons and Braden and Alaina Toney and one great-great-granddaughter, Maci Mae Simmons.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Ross Hill Baptist Church with Deacons Hal Condrey, Daryl Toney and G.W. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall on Saturday evening.
