The Don Gibson Theatre, a 400 seat venue located at 318 S. Washington St. in beautiful Uptown Shelby, NC, is a very intimate concert hall.

Washington Baptist Church will be having Church Watch Night Service along with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Fairview Baptist Church, Zion Hill Baptist Church and anyone else who would like to come and share in the service with us. The celebration will begin at 10:00pm. The guest speaker for the night will be Reverend Les Howard, Pastor of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Waco, North Carolina.

Join Shelby Parks & Recreation and see their Christmas lights that are along Dorton Drive at Shelby City Park and extend from Thompson Gardens down past the Carrousel. The lights and inflatables will be available to the public free of cost from dusk-10pm through January 1st, 2014.
Hospice Cleveland County recently received a surprise visit from Mattie McMurry’s First Grade Class at Jefferson Elementary School.
The Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center, located at 100 TR Harris Drive, Shelby, N.C. will be having a covered dish luncheon on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. in the Dining Room.
The Crossroads Rescue Mission held their annual toy giveaway on Thursday, December 19th at the mission. Toys were given to those who registered and qualified.
In 1916 a Colonial Revival Style building was built to house the Cleveland County Post Office at 111. S. Washington St., Shelby. Soon, the Cleveland County Arts Council will celebrate its’ 25th anniversary in that location.
Every year the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4066 in Shelby takes the money they make selling red poppies and purchases things to give to veterans throughout Cleveland County and even Cherryville.
