Gregory "Crip" Hines was born on July 18, 1955, to the late Ruth and Willie Hines. He passed away on October 3, 2025 at Atrium Health in Shelby.

Gregory's life is lovingly remembered and cherished by his devoted wife, Shirley Hines; sons, Dorian Hines and Gregory "Budd" Wilson; siblings: Delores Eskridge (Russell), Frankie Hines (Kay), Darrell Hines (Lamarick), Jerome Hines, and Steve Hines; sister-in-law, Zelda Hines; extended family of in-laws: Willie Gene and Mary Wright, Christopher and Cherie Wright, Linda Wright, Barbara Sexton, Dennis Wilson and Jeff Sellers; godsons, Jaedon Hopper and Brandon Wright; blended family includes Pete Wilson, Karl and Aricka Howell-Thurman, Tony and Melissa Hawk, Andre and Michelle Davis, Nadia Hopper, and Ladell Cockerham; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
