Good Samaritan Food Ministry
Good Samaritan Food Ministry will be giving away free food and clothing at Christ Temple Church on Saturday, September 28, from 9:00am until 12:00 noon. The Church is located at 341 Hudson Street (Old Cleveland High School) Shelby, NC.

“Bingo” - At Council on Aging/Senior Center, 100 T.R. Harris Drive, Shelby, NC. Each Monday Night (except holidays). Doors open at 5:30 (no admittance after 7:00pm). Jackpot up to $500.00 – Public invited 12 years old and up.
Daily Activities: Inside and outside walking trail; cards and billiards; computer lab; exercise; Dining Room Hours: Mon.-Thurs. 11:30-1:00.

The City of Shelby Solid Waste Department is having the Fall Bulky Item Pick-up the week of October 21st - 24th. Beginning on October 18th you may begin placing items such as: furniture, boxes, mattresses, and bagged clothes, etc., on the curbside without being subject to citations or fines.

The Service Department at the Council on Aging Senior Center is reaching out to the community for help with our Emergency Food Pantry. We are in need of shelf-stable foods such as vegetables, soup, crackers, salmon, oatmeal, grits, cereal etc. Also, there is a need of dish and laundry detergent; Paper products such as toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues.

Fresh local food is finding its way to agencies in the county that are working to relieve hunger. Each Saturday in Uptown Shelby, volunteers operate a Farmer FoodShare Donation Station at the Foothills Farmers' Market.
