When you think of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Cleveland County, you always think of Joe Goforth. At this year’s annual vehicle raffle held at the Fairgrounds’ Goforth Hall, Joe’s widow, Sophie (pictured left) came with her sister. It just wouldn’t be a Boys’ and Girls’ Club event without a Goforth. This year’s lucky winning ticket #138 took home a new Ford truck!

We stopped by the popular Polkville Community Mart at 4006 Polkville Rd. and visited with the owner, Mike Jackson. Here he is getting ready to put some ripe watermelons into the cooler. Mike says everyone likes “ a good cold watermelon”, so he gets his really cold before the sell.
