Cody Beam won four classes and many other placings from 1st to 6th on October 18th at the Appaloosa registered show and October 19th at the Youth Show at the North Carolina State Fair. Cody, age 13, is an eighth grader at West Lincoln Middle School. Over 1200 entries participated the two day showing at the NC Fair Horse complex.
Our week #12 Shelby Shopper & Info Football Contest winner was David White, a Carolina Panthers fan, from Kings Mountain. His ballot was the best received, picking 9 out of 11 games correctly and guessing the closest tie-breaker score of 30 points.

The retirees have fished Lake Norman twice since I last caught up with them. The first one was won by Ronnie Humphries with 9.8 and he had big fish of the day with a 3.2 largemouth.
As a grandparent (I prefer poppy) I am excited about the time when I will have the opportunity to take my own grandchildren on their first hunting experiences. Until then, I am enjoying occasional opportunities to take other children, youth, and young adults into this wonderful world.

Oak Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cherryville, will be having a Pre-Thanksgiving Program, Wednesday, November 27, 6:00pm. The Rev. Henry L. Hall will be preaching the message.

Mental Illness Family Support Group will meet the third Tueday of every month 6:30-8:00pm, 3rd Tuesday of the month, always on the 3rd Tuesday, at Church of the Redeemer, 502 W. Sumter Street, Shelby, NC.
Church Directory
Recently Parker Hannifin Gear Pump Division in Kings Mountain, NC initiated a program to recognize outstanding employees for their efforts. The program is called P.R.A.I.S.E. (Parker Rewards Achievement In Superb Employees).
These Cleveland Early College High School students started gathering food items on November 1st in honor of Veterans Day. The items will be donated to Shelby’s VFW Post 4066 food drive, that is in progress until the end of November.
The North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) Foundation recently presented a $2,500 scholarship to Cleveland Community College students Kelsey Jolley of Shelby and Regina Wilson of Dallas.
