A 2012 Shelby High School graduate and Shelby, N.C. native is serving on one of the world's largest warships, the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush.

Hilma Janette Kale Pruett, age 73, of Kent Street went home to be with the Lord March 6, 2015 at Robin Johnson Hospice House.

SHELBY - Mr. James David Willis, 50, a native of Shelby, passed away at Hospice at Wendover on Sunday, March 1, 2015.

Mrs. Jean McMillan Freeman, age 86 of Shelby, NC, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family Sunday, March 1, 2015.

WINSTON SALEM - Ms. Linda Sue Lane Boone, age 57 and a native of Burnsville, NC, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, NC.

Michael "Mike" John Roebuck, 65, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Mike was born June 1, 1949 in Shelby, NC.

Blacksburg -- Selma Martin Hambright, 86, of 407 Hardin Street, passed away Friday, March 6th, 2015, at her residence.

Susan Martin Maner, age 63, resident of Kings Mountain, NC died March 4, 2015 at Carolina Healthcare System, Cleveland, Shelby, NC.

Virgie White Farris, age 96, a resident of Kings Mountain, NC, went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2015 at Kings Mountain Hospital.

I was reminded last week, how close we are to turkey season. (As if I didn't already know) There in the field, were a flock of birds with one lone gobbler blown up as big as it could get.
