There are about 30 days between the first deer rut and the second one. This second one is when those does cycle back into breeding phase if they were not bred during the first one. The time between these two can provide a little lull in the action. But I have actually found the second rut to be at times more productive than the first; especially if the weather has been cold.
Beautiful weather welcomed this year’s Casar parade held on Sunday, Dec. 2nd and the route was crowded on both sides of the road. One of the most colorful floats in the Casar Christmas parade was this contingent from Carpenter’s Grove Baptist Church. Children especially love the Casar parade because of all the candy that’s always given out.
For every boy or girl who loves “Thomas The Train” it was a very special occasion. “Thomas The Train” is a spinoff of the “Thomas The Tank Railway Series” books written by England’s Rev. Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher.
At the South Mountain visitors center, a free, nature, "make your own ornaments" workshop was conducted by Park Rangers, Brad Costner and Amanda Lasley.

Keep Shelby Beautiful presented its 2012 Appreciation awards to the Wal-Mart Distribution Center #6070; to John and Martha Cline of Cline’s Nursery and to Trey Warrick of Shelby Nursery at the Fred Blackley Keep Shelby Beautiful 2012 Service Award luncheon. Piecemakers Quilt Guild
Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Lincoln County Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC, in room 319. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting.
Last week, #14, we had two guys tie in the Shelby Shopper & Info Football Contest, so we split the prize to $50.00 each.
