Boy Scout Troop 101 of Aldersgate Methodist Church held a flag retirement ceremony at American Legion Post 82 in Shelby on Monday, May 14th.
Pete Carpenter, better known to his great grandson, Caiden, as “Old Geezer” is 71 years old. On May 5th, Pete rode his 21 speed road bike 71 miles. “Way to go - Old Geezer!” Pete is from Casar and has been riding for about 2
years.
Keep Shelby Beautiful presented the March 2012 “Effie Murphy Wallace Residential Appearance Awards" at their May 2nd meeting, one of the recipients was 812 East Marion Street, Shelby, owned by Ron and Teri Ellison.

The retirees from Kosa was on Lake Wylie last week, Tony Black and Ned Blanton edged out David O’Shields and J.R. Henry with 9.20 and 9.15 respectively.

Fish like structure. Anyone who has been fishing long enough realizes this. That structure can be buried far from the bank or it can be in the shallow water, in full view for every fisherman to see.
On May 7th, Shelby Lions hosted a Golf Event at Deer Brook Golf Club. Seven 4-person teams participated in the Captain’s Choice event. A winning score of 54 was posted!

The Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland County is now holding enrollment for the 2012 Jack Schweppe Summer Day Camp. Open registration is being held weekdays from 2 PM to 7 PM at the Boys & Girls Club building, located at 412 West Sumter Street, directly behind the old Shelby Middle School building in Shelby.
On Saturday, May 5th, over 50 volunteers, that included members of the James Love School PTO and teachers, the Cleveland County Girl Scouts, and Keep Shelby Beautiful members, came together to build a “Learning Courtyard” at the school.
