The biggest complaint leveled against Christians? We’re all a bunch of hypocrites. We stand out on Sundays, all polished and pressed, sounding holy and exuding a God-centered focus. The rest of the time we blend in with the crowd, our speech and our actions sounding and looking quite similar to those who have no concern for God.

The retirees fished Lake Norman last week and John Black says, “We sure didn’t have to worry about having enough water to fish”. As you might have imagined after last weekends frog strangler (that’s bruce-ese for hard, hard rain) the lake was full and floating debris was everywhere, but the fish still cooperated.

I’ve always heard that writing is more about perspiration than inspiration. It’s true. Even though it is very fulfilling to write about the outdoors, it is also difficult at times to continue to find worthy subjects and stories.
We found Mickey Bell, Lester Robbs, Jimmy Phillips and Dennis Bailey at the Shelby City Parks Royster Golf Course, participating in the Mad-Dogs Choose-Up. The Mad-Dogs Choose-Up is held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Lincoln County Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC, in room 319. A little girl decided to give her mother Tamara a special Mother’s Day gift. Zaniya Kayse was born on Sunday morning, May 12 at 7:06 a.m., at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. The special “package” weighed in at 7 pounds 14 ounces. She will forever be remembered as “the Mother’s Day girl’!
