The Bar H Arena in Boiling Springs will be hosting the 26th annual Bar H Championship Rodeo & Country Festival on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11. The country festival begins each evening at 6:00 pm and the championship rodeo begins each evening at 8:00 pm. The admission price includes the country festival and championship rodeo.

The overwhelming support of the Clear Mountain View Music Festival and other events held at Elliott Family Farms in Lawndale has been humbling. The Clear Mountain View Music Festival, scheduled for August 22-25, has been accepted as an event for the Blue Ridge Heritage Area Music Trail even though Cleveland County is not technically part of the National Heritage Area.

The retirees fished Lake Wylie last week and knew going in it would be better than the previous weeks event on Lake Norman. Ronnie Humphries brought in 10.0 and captured the win, Larry Melton was second with 8.95 and in third was Ken Johnson and Fred Wright with 7.30. John Black and Roger McNeely had a 2.90 largemouth and that was big bass of the day. This week its back to Lake Norman and hopes for revenge against the lake.

On April 2nd, 2013, Cleveland County Communicators sponsored the ToastMasters’ Area 4, International Speech Contest and Table Topics Contest. The competition was held in the conference room at Hospice, Kings Mt, NC at 7:00 PM. Cleveland County Communicators had three members to place in the competition.
The poem What Cancer Cannot Do states, cancer ‘cannot cripple love… it cannot kill friendship… It cannot shut out memories.’ Bethany Preston has taken these words to heart. Though she admits that she never expected to be fighting cancer or to be under the care of Hospice, Bethany remains focused on hope.
John Thomas “Tommie” Edwards, Jr. and Linda Ann White Edwards celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 30, 2013. The two were married March 30, 1963. The celebration of their anniversary was held at the Shelby Missionary Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
