Heather Grows A Whopper...
Heather Lanning, age 9, grew this head of cabbage from a plant that she received from Mrs. Lloyd’s 3rd grade class at Elizabeth Elementary School. She grew the plant in her grandpaw’s (George Ledford) garden. It measured 22 inches round.

The pair gardens a one acre plot in Shelby, where they grow cucumbers, squash, green beans, butter beans, corn, okra, bell pepper, hot pepper, cantaloupe and 3 kinds of watermelon.
