On Friday, February 24, 2012, eighteen Cleveland County law enforcement officers graduated from Cleveland County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training program during a ceremony at Cleveland Mall’s Shelby Police Department Substation.
We would like to give a big THANK YOU to the AARP Tax Assistant volunteers that are once again working diligently to assist with income tax preparation. They have been working long hours to provide this great service that helps many.
The Council on Aging/Senior Center will once again be distributing Commodities on Wednesday, March 14th from 8:30 –10:30, to seniors over the age of 65 that has pre-registered. You must pre-resister to pick up at the Council on Aging/Senior Center.
The annual Neal Sr. Center Flea Market was held this past week. Along with finding treasures everyone enjoyed a good fresh ham biscuit at the sale. These biscuits are always a treat for shoppers.

Grace Doster Blanton, age 97, of Shelby, NC died on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Hospice Cleveland County. Prior to entering Hospice she had been a resident of White Oak Manor where she moved after declining health

Nora Cochrane McGuire, 89, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Hospice Cleveland County – Wendover. A native of Mecklenburg she was the daughter of the late Roy and Nora James Cochrane.
